Your New Favorite Microwave Hack—Or, Why You Don’t Need a Dehydrator
Dehydrators are great…if you have a a day or two to spare. But sometimes you need dried herbs right now. Welcome to microwave dehydrating.
We don’t use the microwave that much in the BA Test Kitchen, but, when we do, it’s often to dry herbs. Here’s how we do it:
Spread your herbs (leaves and tender stems only) in an even layer on a paper towel and microwave on high for 30 seconds. Toss the herbs and continue to microwave in 15-30 second increments until the herbs are completely dried. Smaller, more tender herbs like tarragon and thyme leaves will…
