Waffle House Restaurants Celebrates National Waffle Week By Donating To Our Troops
August 29, 2014
In celebration of National Waffle Week and its 59-year heritage, Waffle House restaurants will partner with the United Service Organizations (USO) to lift the spirits of America’s troops and their families.
On September 5, 1955, two neighbors, WWII veterans Joe Rogers, Sr., and Tom Forkner, opened the first Waffle House restaurant in Avondale Estates, GA. In honor of the founders and US troops everywhere, Waffle House restaurants is donating 10 cents of every waffle sold on Friday September 5, 2014, nationwide.
Since its establishment in 1941, the USO has been dedicated to lifting the spirits of our nation’s troops and their families. The USO accomplishes this mission by delivering valued programs, morale-boosting services and engaging entertainment that help them feel appreciated for their service.
