It’s not every day that museum-goers get to hang out with artists in the process of creating art. But that’s exactly what visitors to the Museum of Art and Design (MAD) in New York can do if they take the elevator up to the sixth floor on Tuesdays anytime between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. through September 29th. There, they’ll meet Margaret Braun, a professional artist and cake designer who’s applying her talent for crafting confections—and interest in porcelain sculpture—to the challenge of fashioning an installation of 2,000 ornate white cups from sugar.
