McDonald’s Gives Away Free Metro Rides in Washington, D.C.
The chain hopes to draw more customers with some mass-transit freebies
McDonald’s is about to kick off another Monopoly campaign, and to celebrate in Washington, D.C., the chain is helping patrons advance past go via free rides on the city’s Metro service. McDonald’s told the Washington Post it gave away $10,000 in fares in honor of Metro’s 40th anniversary.
A spokesperson for the Golden Arches told the Post the chain handed out 2,000 SmarTrip cards loaded with $5 apiece at five Metro stations during Tuesday morning’s commute. They were packaged in commemorative sleeves to market the company’s annual Monopoly game, “which…
